Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Company testing our limits

I’ve been working in retail for years and for all these years I don’t believe I’ve been as tired anywhere as I was last week here. I was so tired I could barely work even on autopilot.

Basically, this is a good company if you want to test your limits, how much you can work under enormous pressure for little money in awful stores and a horrible atmosphere. I don't think anyone needs that kind of testing of their limits.

I would like to know who feels comfortable working here? My guess is nobody.

Do we work at the same store?
Our SM doesn't work weekends, goes on frequent vacations, other managers and employees can't have sick time off even with a doctors excuse

I had a store manager who is hardly ever in the store. Off every weekend, does not close, will deny pto and the take her pto. She had about 10 vacations this year, I kid you not.
I’ve never seen another retailer who lets the store manager off when it’s busy, like weekends and major sales.

how can a store manager have so much vacation time? How can you successfully run a store when you are not there? SMH

As a middle class retail worker, I still feel I know just as much about working in a sweatshop in China as the children themselves. After all, i have walked a mile in their shoes! Belk store managers are not testing our limits. They know and abuse associates to see how much we can take it!
