Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

DSP or IPO investment opinion

I am confused with GF DSP for employee. GF is making loss and there is no projection when they will make profit except statements like chip shortage, diversify fabs etc.

We are not getting shares in discount or free why hard earned money needs to be invested in loss making company like GF when we can invest in profit making TSMC.

Also not clear on lockin period whether we can sell immediately or there is lockin period or insider trading complication.

Please share your opinion

This is like a reversed story of THE LITTLE RED HEN. Was reading to my daughter this weekend. The hen does all the work but in the GF version, the hen does not get any of the bread.

"A hen living on a farm finds some wheat and decides to make bread with it. She asks the other farmyard animals for help planting it, but they refuse. The hen then harvests and mills the wheat into flour before baking it into bread; at each stage she again asks the animals for help and they refuse. Finally, the hen has completed her task and asks who will help her eat the bread. This time the animals accept eagerly, but the hen rebuffs them stating that, just as she made the bread herself, she will eat the bread herself. She then runs away with the bread."

DSP is optional. The only way I'd touch GFS is if it was granted to me and even then I'd sell it once vested. If anything it's a risky long play where you'll need to ride lows, and hope GF realizes its attempts to become profitable. Read the S-1 and use your knowledge of inner workings to determine how likely you think that is.

Invest in TSMC if you think their stock will keep rising. Always tons of good news coming from them. IMO you should be concerned about Chinese "intervention", natural disasters etc. in Taiwan. Their stock price is already high too.

this is just my opinion and not advice
