Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

How much is the Xerox experience worth?

I am a little envious of all those who leave Xerox. I've been trying to find a job for months. I have a lot of experience here but it seems to me the longer you stay here the harder it is to find a new job. I wonder if the experience in this company has any value at all.. If I could turn back time, I would have left a long time ago.

My xerox experience is worthless. What I learned here was pretty useless. What I learned at other companies was useful. Xerox is nothing but numbers and a quick sale. Not impressed.

Like they say…” we can fix it in the field, Ship it. “ what a strategy. Bravo 👏

Nothing from Ms. Platitudes? Tell us how a stinking Java UI skill set is not a stupid career move, like its stupid slow programmers. Wow.

"Building Java Swing GUIs and using AccuRev have zero value outside Xerox"

Wow, somebody is really hung up on Java. I've seen a dozen posts in the last year likely by the same person whining about Java. There is a lot more to the company than some of the legacy GUIs.

Building Java Swing GUIs and using AccuRev have zero value outside Xerox but go ahead and use all the platitudes you want @1xbp+1duN74bn

Wow. How do I follow those posts?

Okay. The experience you learn anywhere is exactly that. Experience. That is not something everyone has.
As far as xerox, it’s a big name and people are usually suprised hen tell them what’s happening and my dealings with them.
As far as never hiring someone from xerox. I don’t agree. As much as I detest xerox, if you can work there and take it, you should be able to work just about anywhere. Assuming they are hiring and you have a good work ethic.

Xerox on your resume is to some people still impressive. But as far as I am concerned it only means you payed your dues and then some. Good luck.

Other employers know you stayed on with no raises, cr-p health and retirement benefits (not even a match, lol) for years and ultimately you are lazy for doing so. I would never hire that. Good luck.

I left 2 years ago and my experience from Xerox helped me both land the job and also In my day to day at new job. For now the Xerox reputation is intact and the name is iconic.
