Yes- man culture

Is being a yes man the only way to get ahead in this company?
Why is there not much room here for those who don’t agree to become just another yes-man?

I’m not that type and I think it cost me a lot at GF. When I look back, I think I would've advanced a lot more in my career if I got into the yes-man culture here.

Manager doesn't have time and they will just expect you to do what they say.

I openly challenge directives/decisions if I think there will be negative impact. It's how you do it that matters.

Here's a good starting point: If it's your manager relaying some decision from above, openly share your concerns. If it's your manager's decision, share your concerns with them in private.

This gives them the ability to consider things they may not have and adjust accordingly. If they've considered it they will tell you, and you learn from it.

*assuming your manager doesn't have an authority complex

My 1st manager told me "if you always agree with me, one of us is redundant " and " since he had higher seniority with the Company, it will be me who'll be let go during next downturn".
GloFo doesn't have this culture and this is a part of the problem.

100% true here and true in majority of cases outside.

We should listen why people say no.

Yes man, but this is true at any company. The entire chain is yes men and women.
