Go deck is bought and paid for by the public worker unions! She do what they tell her to do!!!
lol people losing their minds over words and then don't bother to understand the context.
$80 barrel. Everyone needs to settle down. Obama was good for Canadian oil and Biden will be too. Keep heating and burning gas people. I hope oil goes up to $150 per barrel. Where the heck was everyone when alberta was sinking. No where to be seen. Hope Quebec needs some more propane. Oil is not going anywhere soon. And all that lithium farming will eventually catch up with the electric hippies. Keep drilling and sending tankers to China. The discount will eventually go away and hopefully the US will have to pay full price + 50%. Bloody Americans
Please. Industry, Canada and Alberta tried to fly under the radar with respect to our O&G for years believing the notion of us being nice people and having "ethical oil" would mean anything. Turns out no one cared, and we're just nice easily manipulated Canadians. The environmental groups were well funded by US special interests and far ahead of us. Our industry wanted to let government take the reigns and not spend any $.
Turns out a major oil and gas producing nation without a spine is an easy target. Who would have thought. There are tons a blame to go around. Industry wanting to put their heads down and wanting Harper and his cabinet, KKKenney, and Notley, et.al. to advocate for us. Industry and government screwed us over.
Well. Calgarians won’t let her forget that she fully supported oil and gas and their top notch envt’l standards not long ago. The internet never forgets.
Oil and gas drilling won't stop. We kissed the O&G ring for decades and when times were tough, they laid us all off without hesitation. Her statement is all business, and a signal to the world that we are open to diversification and not a one trick pony town. If any company stomps their feet and wants to move on. Let them. They will fall in line like was said here it's good for business to be a poseur about the environment.
You should probably watch her entire interview before falling for a one or two sentence post on LinkedIn and subsequently losing your marbles over it. This is all about optics and a small first step to show people that we take climate change seriously. No well run oil and gas company will pack up, leave or lay anyone off because of this statement.
The majors here have already pledged to collectively reduce emissions. In the coming days, I expect them to side with Gondek as it is good for business.
