Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Why didn’t they say that when they were hiring?

I just want to check with you, was anyone told when you first came to this company that you would be doing almost all jobs other than the job you were supposed to be doing?

I understand the importance of teamwork and flexibility, however, I don’t want to wear multiple hats and do several jobs simultaneously anymore. I only applied for one position here. Not for 2. Not for 3.

I cannot image what it would be like if foot traffic was not down. It is tough to operate most days and that is with going over our weekly budget.

Bottom line here is this company has and still is cutting back on so much they want as tiny of a payroll as possible. This means the skeleton crews that work every day have to do multiple jobs. They are milking their associates for all they are worth and paying less than practically anywhere else in retail. Only saving grace is there is barely any foot traffic.

You haven’t heard of cross training??
The elimination of store positions allows employees to be cross trained.
You are just not only a cashier, you are also soft side, hard side and all around employee. Who comes first might I ask
The customer does!!
They are the ones that pay our paychecks and if it comes down to the need of help on the floor to make sales or help with projects and put away~ you are it. One cannot say “That’s Not My Job” anymore

Have you heard what they’re getting paid?
I’d be disgruntled too!

I understand. When someone told me about this board, they didn't tell me it was full of disgruntled teenagers.

I posted earlier about BBB being inclusive or not and I guess they aren’t since my post was deleted before anyone could respond.

Honestly this is most retail. Unless you work in a busy store with a higher employee count you end up covering many different tasks. If the BBB manager you interviewed with told you that you would only be doing one job, they were either incompetent or dishonest.
