Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

The workload just keeps on getting bigger

How much has your workload increased? If I would express myself in percentages, compared to 2020, my workload has increased by a minimum of 60% this year. Compared to 2015, for example, the amount of work I need to do has increased by more than 100%. At the same time, the pay has remained almost the same.

When someone leaves, management gives you their work but not their pay.

yeah, things have definitely happened since COVID started that created more work and has resulted in a huge backlog for me. I am constantly putting out fires, or helping to, and chipping away at routine stuff while less critical routine things never get done. I could probably work a handful of Saturdays and get rid of the less critical stuff, or to a point where it depends on someone else, but why should I? My paycheck is the same every month. I put in a minimum of 40-50 hours a week already. Apparently not worth any equity.

I work in the fab. More work, fewer people. The people who remain after years of attrition are less qualified or completely unqualified. My module stopped buying actual training: our training plan is 100% on the job training, where management somehow believes the two or three actually qualified individuals will magically train two dozen other employees. My personal guess is that roughly half of those are actually trainable. I'm only here until the right opportunity presents elsewhere.
