Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

How come almost everyone becomes much more successful when they leave here?

I am very glad to hear about some people who have left here, that they have become very successful in other companies.

There are still great people here, great teams, who are withering away in this company. I’ve worked for several insurance companies, but of them all, Allstate is the worst when it comes to harnessing the potential of its employees. This seems to be a company that gets the worst out of people. Sad.

3 months after being laid off from Allstate, I found a job that pays me 35% more yearly, better health insurance and fully remote work. Do not despair, my allstate brothers and sisters, there's light at the end of the tunnel

To the last post, was either of your last two jobs in the insurance industry? I ask because I am thinking of going to another insurance company

Worked at Allstate for 5 years, years ago.

Was told my work was terrible even though i knew my work was completley acceptable. Only ever recieved 1% raises. I was pulled off projects, which resulted in me often being left out to dry and sit around doing busy work or nothing. It sounds nice, just getting a paycheck, but eventually you figure out you aren't learning anything.

Finally I got a new job when the walls started closing in. The change felt like i was feeling the sun for first time only after hearing about it.

My work and value was appreciated and I became the best asset the company had. Every year i recieved 5%+ raise and promotions.

I just got a new job with a 30%+ raise and multimillion dollar projects.

So yes, leave Allstate and you'll do better. At the very least emotionally.

I put in 5 years here as an underwriter and ran into the stagnation. I was a good employee, received expected ratings - only to receive a cost of living raise that was a few cents. I had one promotion that was a dollar increase due to a small promotion (IRA).

After not feeling appreciated, and the raises a joke I decided to leave for a competitor. I’m in a different role, and I feel so appreciated already. I am also being compensated much better.

Throw your hat in the ring to anywhere that interests you.

I'll say this, Allstate is really a great company to work for if your new to insurance or as an entry level job for 3-4 years. Training is excellent. However, after 4-5 years there is stagnation and raises stop so it sets you up to go to a better company and you have a solid foundation already. So take the experience you get here then go somewhere else to make over $60,000

I agree, I can only speak of the department I worked in (claims) but I saw this constantly. And I felt it too, there's so much micromanagement that you don't even have the freedom to do your daily work. One of the first things ex-coworkers tell me when they switch companies is how their new manager doesn't load them down with busy work.
