Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Belk hiring 5,000 people by end of year?? what??

So let me fully understand this...As of February 2021 Belk has $7 million to its name, not even enough to make payroll and filed one day-chapter 11 all the way in Houston Texas where Belk has not one store, then got a $225 million boost of funds from Sycamore who had they money before the one day chapter 11, now October 2021, they miraculously have the need for 5,000 employees, yet some contractors have not paid and stores are still in disrepair with scattershot off brand merchandise, or lack thereof, needing major overhauls. Am I missing something? Please let us know if someone knows something we don’t.

5,000 new belk employees equal about 17 new hires each store. 15 of them will be temps, under 15 hours per week. Maybe larger doors will keep two employees, but smaller, low volume stores will be lucky to have have three people closing, come early january and feb (when stores are the slowest). I've said it on here before, make a list of the pro's and con's of working at Belk, and the con's are much greater. Don't get fooled into thinking Belk is the only job out there, now job's like Belk are at the bottom of the barrell.

"Nordstrom is looking to hire 28,000 seasonal and regular employees as it gears up for the holidays amid an ongoing supply chain crunch and a tight labor market.
The clothing retailer announced competitive pay and benefits to lure employees, including incentive payments of $650 at its Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack stores".
Belk plans to hire 5000 workers this holiday season recently is nothing but a drop in the bucket in retail industry. Belk Corporation should spend $225 million fund from Sycamore Partners this year fast and wisely or facing liquidation soon!

Nothing at Belk is as it seems. It’s all just a house of cards waiting to collapse at any moment.

Across the span of store, sounds like a big number but in reality a handful per store of temp holiday hires.

Personally I'd be more upset about Syco spending a few cool billion to buy a winemaking company. At least let them give every associate a nice bottle for the holiday! Cheers.
