Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Former Essential Worker Hero

Last year I was an essential worker. A hero for going to work. I repaired your device inside of your school, your jail house, your hospital, your elderly care place. You unzipped the Covid red protective sheet in your hallways and had me walk through the covid ward patients to get to your device. When I had concern and expressed it to my company, I was told to go home and take vacation until I wanted to do the job.
Now I see that you have decided that I can permanently go home because now you are somehow concerned that I am not vaccinated. I wasn't vaccinated last year either when I had to go to these places.

If you have a valid medical deferment, you will not need to be vaccinated.

If you do not, and you choose to continue to disregard the health of your co-workers and customers, then please quit. It's time for us to end the f*ing pandemic. Those who aren't willing to do their part in this -- nobody is forcing you to do anything, just as nobody is forcing employers, sports stadiums, movie theaters, etc. to continue to employ you or allow you into their places of business.

So…. Get vaccinated. See how simple your dilemma can be solved? I’m d-mbfounded by the mass of Xerox techs who are completely illiterate on basic science and common sense.

“Don't blame Xerox. They have to enforce this”. This person is definitely a Manager who has survived by brown nosing their entire career. I can smell it a mile away

But again, it is my choice. A company that can fire you tomorrow because you didn't sell one more copier is not going to make my health decisions.
the approved biontech vaccine is not available still, just a reminder. it is not the same.

To the post below this, when a person is vaccinated and gets a break through case of COVID, being vaccinated will provide them a 10x more chance of less COVID symptoms and better survivability. Yes, it is true that a vaccinated person can get and still spread COVID, but If you are unvaccinated and get COVID, you will have a much higher chance of admission to the ICU, being intubated and a much higher chance of dying from the Virus. Think about the 700K+ that have unfortunately passed away due to COVID. Speak to your trusted health provider if you don't believe in the CDC or the NIH. Also Pfizer in no longer for emergency use only, it is fully approved vaccine.

to the person below this, their risk was losing money, not health.
the mandate isn't even signed yet, there is no osha regulation.
how are there more deaths now than last year when there are 70 percent vaccinated, and last year had no vaccines? if you have a vaccine, what am i protecting you from? if you are vaccinated and can still get it, then both of us being vaccinated means you can still get it. 99.7 percent survivability rate.
the only thing we took action on last year was ventilators. would you trust a xerox ventilator? i'll use a paper towel tube.

Last year they had to take the risk of letting you in because they didn't have an option. This year they can choose - and have every right - to reduce that risk because there is an option. So last year you might have been a hero but refusing to protect people around you when you have the option to do so takes you out of that category. It's not Xerox or other people who recategorized you. It's your own decision.

It is very odd for a company to have a standoff with employees, especially field service, when the work force is as thin as it is in this particular department. Anyone here will tell you that nationwide, there are barely any technicians to cover the work.

They can enforce it but they can give a testing option. They appear to not be doing so. I hope to be wrong about that. If not, good luck to those who remain. You can only halve a half for so long until 2 people are staring at each other holding the bag.

Man you said it. How absolutely True. Xerox is so Hypocritical. I could not agree more. It’s time people know the Truth inside this train wreck. Once a hero. Now your useless. Just leave this company to self destruct.
