Thread regarding Pembina Pipeline Corp layoffs

Posted on LinkedIn

"I feel like there are a lot of manager-types who exist entirely on making their 'rounds'. They're not doing actual work but it looks like they are since they're going around chatting everyone up. Now with that gone via work from home, they feel exposed and are pushing to get back to the office."

Anyone else agree or disagree with the post? My "manager" at Pembina is this type of guy and is still on payroll. He is The Office show Michael Scott/David Brent goofball loser type. Barely qualified to operate a photocopier yet alone lead 20 drafters and document controllers. This company is a joke.

Our group refers to the guy mentioned here as the "Dunce." Re: post below, Pembina staff are conservative and very private for a publicly traded company, and fewer speak out. I agree with the post below. Active employee here and have a young family in Calgary. No real need to leave Pembina as I work with a great team and Manager but if the right opportunity arose I would leave instantly with no qualms. When contacted, I tell any new grad eng to look elsewhere. I understand the negative sentiments from people as Pembina is only a progressive company on paper. One thing I will say to anyone from upper management who may be reading this is that the regressive crony culture you have instilled and support will burn you long term. Young intelligent staff wont tolerate it. Hiring employee/executive kids as employees and summer students has set the company back decades.

I don’t disagree at all. It’s the Pembina way and this behaviour has infected more than TSU - its company wide - and appears to be what Senior Managers / VP’s / SVP’s are wanting. There are a few good managers here, but they are very uncommon around this place and unfortunately probably will not last long - they are not towing the company line.

Anyone else notice that a lot of these posts look like they are from people who are still working here? Actively looking and I really hope to get out of this oppressive, depressing, demoralizing, abusive workplace very soon. It would be a lot easier if I didn’t have a young family that I need to look after.
