Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

India

So with the email everyone received today about home office being sold and knowing Tom Wilson and Glenn Shapiro are all about the bottom line it makes sense that they probably plan to move everything over to India. Sad day. Every other us fortune 500 company has us headquarters as well as most insurance companies

India will never be the HQ going forward. Great for back office functions that don't require direct customer contact, given the low wage and benefit scale. Northbrook campus is just another real estate commodity, to be sold to the highest bidder. Allstate will have zero involvement once a sale is completed. Wilson loves his Riverpoint space, and that will be corporate HQ going forward for those officers that need a high profile meeting space or to meet with their senior leaders every month. The world of corporate real estate has changed forever.

Heard 12+ years ago that Wilson didn't want to be in real estate business and wanted to sell off buildings and have headquarters in Chicago. It was an officer that told me this and it is all coming true. Pandemic just helped him. They've spent so much money on those ugly buildings. So sad to see them go though. They will probably be torn down like the South Barrington office.

Former Allstater here. I don't think Allstate will move HQ to India even though many jobs are going there. My guess is that Texas will be the new HQ. Thoughts?

When I first started with the company Northbrook was 11,000 strong. That’s when we occupied west plaza, willow road plaza and a couple of floors in another building a few min north. Slowly more and more has moved over to India and the trend is definitely ASPL since they can pay them significantly less, and don’t have to supplement SSN and healthcare insurance for them. It’s not the same company I started working for in 06 and plan on leaving next Jan for greener pastures.

Northbrook campus would be a great area for affordable housing projects. It’s gross. This company bites. The board should vote to donate it to the greater Chicago area. Take the tax break. Hahahah. They want the money!! Hahahah Allstate will look good on progressives books!! Thank you George Soros. And just think, the Allstate employees left will finally get a gain share bonus at Christmas

The fear mongers are out in full force. If Allstate doesn't work out for you, try getting an MSM gig, you're a natural.

That office space is too small to be a real HQ. Nothing like NB. So stop your brown nosing.

Yes and since Allstate is such a trend setter it should not be a surprise they are taking most of their company to India. After all, they want to be the cheapest auto insurer on the planet what better way to do it.

Read the tea leaves. It’s painfully obvious what they are doing and what they have done. OP is right. It’s a slow painful experience for smart Allstaters to watch, unless you’re among the wishful, who are drunk on blue kool aid. The more that leave stateside the happier they are. They won’t lay off any US front line for awhile. They need to make up for last year to make it look like they care. But it won’t be long before whole divisions will be in Allstate India. They have huge plans for this that the everyday American Allstater knows nothing about.

Did you forget to read the part where they are having other office space in Chicago.

Stop with this fear bu-----t.

Getting rid of thousands of unused real estate doesn't indicate they are headquartered in India
