Boy! The entitled millennials really don’t like the fact that other people are seen as more experienced and better suited for management than they are. This goes against everything they were taught in college when their professors told them the world revolves around them and is desperate for their unique perspective. Reality has a way of sl@pping you intheface.

The work from home concept appeals to a certain segment of the workforce with bad attitudes. You know the familiar reasons for WFH. “The drive is too much for me”.
“ There is no benefit to being there in person”. “ My manager wants to check up on me”. Grow up! You are getting paid to play by the corporate rules and you are receiving great compensation.

I want to WFH 5 days a week. I also want a 10% raise, a company car and 5 weeks of vacation. I want my co workers to laugh at my jokes and think I’m kinda cute. I want my manager to understand when I don’t feel like working. I want to eat like a pig but not gain weight. That’s all.

I happen to agree with the post below that most employees want to WFH at least 3-4 days a week. If not full time.

“ Most OXY employees are just tired of middle age white men/women calling the shots.” First, you know this how? Second, just because it is popular on FB, doesn’t mean the sentiment is shared by “most” OXY employees or for that matter most employees anywhere. You are making the common mistake of thinking that because you and your friends think something, everyone must. As you grow up you will learn, maybe, that half the people disagree with the other half on any subject. You might also learn that just because it’s new and popular doesn’t mean it is tested and true. Give yourself some time to figure these things out.

What more do you want than the hybrid work model which Oxy has bought off on?
You will never be able to stay home from the office every day of the week like during covid unless you are unemployed. Ain’t gonna happen. Even well seasoned consultants need to do their work in the office.

No, I’m not. I am a white guy so that doesn’t even make sense. Most OXY employees are just tired of middle age white men/women calling the shots when their ideas of how the world should run date the pre internet era.

No, no one wants or needs to go back to the office. Saying people do for the sake of preserving the culture is the biggest load of BS and the employees are tired of hearing it. It’s all about control and the butts in seats mentality and I for one will look elsewhere (15 year oxy employee) if flexible work from home is not an option going forward. If you think we need to be in the office to get our work done, you are probably some middle aged white guy that may as well retire if your thinking can’t evolve.

Let me summarize. I’m mad. I’m mad at the company, at the employees, at management, at my sad life, and at you, whoever you are. Nobody listens to me or respects my opinion. If you’re successful I’m very mad at you because I’m not. I’m mad!

The company needs to get back to the office to solve many of the cultural problems. People need to abandon their selfish attitudes that were developed over the past 18 months and get back to business.
