Thread regarding Morgan Stanley layoffs

You should always be prepared!

Worrying ahead of time doesn't really make it any easier. That’s why it’s best to always be prepared - it reduces anxiety. Anyway, my colleagues have already started talking that there could be cuts soon, very likely in December. Don't quote me on this, it's just a speculation! Does anyone have any more detailed information?

360 Reviews have not been conducted yet because they are due Monday. Nobody has had their reviews yet with their managers. And 360 reviews are used as a guide for your manager and as a failsafe to keep them from slamming you if your peers agree you are good. Do not listen to the clown above.

a quick glance reveals it's been about 4 months straight of the street corner dealers, here on this and other bank boards yacking about how we are all going to be laid off imminently if we didn't accept their powder.

does anyone else see what is happening here? it's not about layoffs.

many of the posts from pushers often have jumbled syntax, which suggests to me they are coming from overseas.

I doubt much in the way of large scale RIFs. I say that for two reasons. One, they have been quietly getting rid of people this quarter. Two, the attrition is pretty high right now, too.

My guess is there would be cuts this year. They promised only to freeze in 2020.
If you haven’t had your 360 review meeting with your line manager so far, that is a good indication you are in the list.
If you are on a project with mid November “hard” deadline that your manager is pushing you to complete or present to the group that is another indicator. Another indicator is the donut bonus last year. It’s IB of saying bu---r off.
Usual time for go home “consultation period” start is first week of December

Always, always, always be prepared walk out at a moments notice. If you are in trading floor they will escort you out.

More options you have better your chances. And in a strange way more appealing you will be to MS as well. If they think you are in demand, strange thing about human psyche is they don’t want you out.
