Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Everyone is responsible for themselves

I found a new job in a few weeks. I don’t think this is an ideal company, but I disagree with some who write that this is a company where it is not possible to develop skillset and gain experience. I managed to get a much better opportunity precisely with the experience I gained here, but I tried to learn as much as possible on my own. I didn’t wait for the company to force me to adopt new skills. Why does everyone who thinks they are becoming less marketable also think that GM is to blame for that?

Everyone, wait, who exactly said this? It sounds like you're trying to talk down to somebody in response to something for some reason.

Are you saying it's OK to be laid off if you're not lazy? I'm doing way better than I ever could have at GM because of the same hard work and proactive learning that got me nothing but political nightmares at GM. I seriously regret wasting so many years of my life there.

Experience, yes
Worth the pain, no
