Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

New 2022 Attendance Guidelines

Cutting in half number of allowable occurrences for UNs and terminations AND no longer linking days for occurences. So instead of 5 days being one occurrence it is 5 occurrences. What a joke! I guess this is TPTB's way to get a head start on "lay offs" so they don't look so bad when double the number of people are ultimately let go in 2022 than were in 2020. A bigger rate of turn over and more revolving door than ever. Opens things up for the mass move to India I guess. SMH.....

Better get those resumes updated. Pune get ready for all of the soon to be open positions coming your way. I've seen this type of attendance standards come before in other companies. HR will roll this type of cr-p out just before any type of layoffs.

I understand that the current attendance policy creates some loopholes, it’s more than “just show up to work”. Allstate has had the 5-day 1 occurrence point for years and it has never been the issue. If they feel it’s being taken advantage of now & all of a sudden has became an issue… “HR” needs to take scope into WHY employees are utilizing this loophole to miss work. Could it possibly be the high turn over rate, the layoffs i the adjusters in the claims department that 5-6 months ago created two-week inspection times, the fact that employees were within guidelines of the 2020 attendance policy & then they get transferred to the new policy and are well above the new policy’s occurrence limit with wiggle room of one occurrence? How about half training new employees in claims on a two week schedule then throwing them out on the floor & they make mistakes and we have to clean them up and deal with unhappy customers (which really aren’t the new employees fault because they weren’t taught processes if something else occurs in the claim they were working on) oh, let’s not forget I’ve been with the company for three years and am making 10 cents less than someone in my position that has been with the company for 8 years and making the same rate as someone who starts tomorrow. these are all factors to create extra stress on an employee and make them not want to show up for work. And the worst part is just like the last occurrence change those people who took a 5-day 1 occurrence in 2021 are more than likely going to display 5 occurrences in 2022 for what used to be 1 occurrence.

“HR” could sure penalize employees to achieve a better service rate or fill in the matter that we don’t have enough employees to cover— but at the end of the day, if employees don’t feel wanted, or appreciated this attendance policy and guidelines are going to change frequently because nothing will work if you are not listening to the complaints of your employees. It’s such a coincidence this policy was sent out to us AFTER we took the last survey.

You guys didn’t think they bumped up the 2.5x holiday pay as a favor to us did you? No, it was so they could take away the 3 days deviated says they give us so there’s three extra days in the seat & don’t think you’ll take unpaid days at the end of the year to make up the three days you were missing and usually account for, because now you’ll be fired.

One more year with this company is all that I’m hanging on for.

It seems to me that they are scrambling to keep people. I just got a band level bump with a pay increase and admittedly I’ve not been busting my a-s like I have done in the past prior to the RIF of 2020, so I honestly wasn’t expecting this. Odd time of year for promotion and raise and feels like they are trying to avoid more turnover. I actually have a job offer that I’ve accepted for the New Year but I haven’t put in my notice yet.

The survival of the fittest continues. Don’t expect anything to improve here. Their plan is to make it as awful as possible so you will leave without severance. They love to see the USA attrition so you can be replaced by bots and India folks. It’s simple math in how to save money. India folks are smart too. A little slow, but they are embracing western ways as they want all our office jobs desperately. Don’t be fooled. USA Allstate jobs are not the future. I’f you get sick you will be let go faster.
