Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

What will Cisco be like post unvaxxed termination?

No political or snark needed. We've done that already.

If (big if) 10%+ of the staff aren't granted accommodations and refuse to get the shot, can the company survive? If so, what will be the work load for those remaining? Don't post "we can lose them!" BS. The most effective people I know are refusing the shot.

The group I work in is vaxxed well beyond 95% (it's in workday). There will be last minute vaccinations despite what folks are claiming in public. The actual number isn't going to be anywhere near 10%. Let's say 5%. Most groups can survive that. It might sting a bit here and there but it won't be as dire as some seem to think.

Hearing that HR is being very easy with exemptions. Should not be a problem.

Most of the unvaxxed are high earners in their late 40s and above, the exact demographic who are usually LR'ed. So, I guess Cisco will be laughing all the way to the bank if these folks decide to not get vaxxed.

My bet is it doesn't have the big effect and saves Cisco from a LR as this will really helps Opex. Those that aren't vaccinated by Jan 5th are off the books - if the number is 10% that will be an auto reduction in expenses by 10%

You clearly don't know what "what if?" means.

This very concern is one of the reasons why I plan to look to work elsewhere as soon as possible. Many people are already struggling with extra work due to lack of backfills left open from the previous LR and I doubt Cisco will be very attractive to new hire candidates (at least talented ones) based on the stringent stance they have decided to take with this mandate. Especially given that many employers are taking a more employee first, less intrusive approach. I think it's going to be really ugly after January.

They will fall in line. You see it all the time on the news.

@jzw+1dSWAX2Y I've already heard from two out of a team of < 10 that they aren't getting it no matter what. But who knows, you might be right.

But what if you aren't? What is going to happen?

a large % of this 10% will take the vaccine, so it will not be a problem.
