Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

It may not be a good time for such a question, but ....

I feel sorry for everyone who got cut, I hope everyone will find much better jobs after this. Things should be looked at from a positive side as well, many would not even try to find anything better if they were not cut.

For those who will survive the holiday cuts, does anyone know if there will be a pay raise? I apologize that it may not be a good time for that question, but I wonder if we put in extra effort in vain?

I don't feel sorry at all for anybody that just got cut. Nor the ones who will be cut over the next 3-4 months. Especially the long-timers. They've all had their warnings. They've all seen the writing on the wall. They chose to stick it out.
Some people appear to be taking the gamble that they'll get that big payoff eventually if they just stick it out. Or they're newer and naive enough to believe that things are looking up now and they're going to turn this ship around some day very soon.
Remember that your payout isn't guaranteed. Don't act surprised if you wait too late and there isn't a payoff for you in the end!

I’m not being funny, but who is the rocket scientist asking about pay rise straight after one of the biggest cuts SG has put in place ? Come on man. Some common sense and maybe a little bit of decency as folks will be heading into the holidays with no job amidst an economically challenging climate.

Good luck to those whose names were highlighted on the roll call. Get paid and ride out into the sunset.

For those who are still there. Move while you can, before someone else makes that decision for you.

Yeah. CEO message about no performance reviews just seems like lame cover for him to avoid saying, no raises.

Pay raise? You do realize not only is SG not selling anything, they just laid off a lot of people and your raise is going to pay their severance. You will be lucky if they don't reduce your salary.

It is at least twice as easy to find a job while you have a job. I promise. Control your own destiny while you still can!

Even after the New Year's cuts, you really gotta watch out for the brutal President's Day cuts (some of the worst ever).

Then beware the Ides of March.

Escape while you still matter!!!

Is just not looking good at all...

Wow. The desk seats aren't even cold yet. They just RIFed a lot of people. Do you seriously think you're getting a raise?

Remember, the 2021 review process has been put on hold due to the re-org...how can there be raises without reviews?
