Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Only at Belk

I worked in a lot of retail companies before I came here, but nowhere did I experience a manager yelling at me. I really haven’t experienced that anywhere except here. That kind of behavior is unacceptable. Of course I will give notice.

Is this behavior typical of managers in other Belk stores as well? If so, then it's no wonder Belk is in a downward spiral.

Shi++y,
Some of us, can't just up and quit, we work as many days as we can to support our family, it's called being head of household, even if it means putting up with an opinionated sarcastic B like you.

Store 0184
Must not be that bad if you’re continuing to show up everyday. You’re just jumping on the bandwagon of griping. Put down the coffee and get to work

"Maybe you need a thicker skin. How about a participation trophy snowflake"

How about some manners for you, "Karen"?

It's a typical day at work for us, one manager belittles associates, on a regular basis, even in the presence of customers.
Store manager allows it, going to HR does nothing.
Being subjected to demoralizing statements by a manager has nothing to do with an associate being thin skinned, or a snowflake. They deserve a trophy for maintaining control, and not reacting in a physical manner.

If you just need a job in retail industry then by all mean apply at Belk. If you want a good retail company with integrity, with high moral and compassionate leaders, caring managers, you won’t find it at Belk. You find more compassion and caring at Alcatraz or San Quentin Prison then here! Only at Belk we care only about SELL! Only at Belk we will make you life a living HE-L!
I know because I used to be STM at Belk and it is what it is.

First of all Belk was never high class
Secondly you just quit. No notice needed. Future employers will only confirm you worked there. May not even do that if you interview well. Everyone is desperate for bodies

I feel the same as you too. See Belk managers think that retail associates like us are dime and dozen and easily replace at any time. They forget one thing that quality workers are not cheap and cheap workers are not reliable and useless. Therefore “One Belk” is nothing more than a useless motto to pump up the company culture to cover up the big failure inside the company struggle to survive in tough retail world.

it is a typical life at Belk these days. Since Sycamore Partners bought Belk, it is no longer a high class or upscale clothing store but a lower class like Walmart or Goodwill stores! You can have any id--t running the store and call it manager! Now you know why Belk is heading toward liquidation homeless bad kid on the block!!!
