It seems that they are doing really badly with hiring new people, which is understandable because no one wants to work here. I won't be here after the New Year's either.

However, I think that BBBY doesn't really have much interest in hiring new people, because if it did, it would find a way to attract them. Just my 2 cents.

Here is a good one. Our store starts at 12 hour. The store (same volume) 15 minutes away starts at 14/hour. Another mistake booster for the 12 an hour store
I think changing the return policy was obviously a great move, problem is the lack of coverage since our store usually had a much older crowd who loved to talk and ask a lot of questions. Plus with there being at most 2-3 people on the whole floor some weekends it gets tough being an A Volume store and you can see some of the usual customers rarely come in, if at all. Only encouraging thing that I am seeing is whatever new hires that we do get is that they are much more willing to learn these days whereas the employees we have on the floor just want to do their same old job from yesteryear and not even try to help with CDS/BOPIS or the thousand other things that comes with working in the store on a day-to-day basis.
Our difficult customers aren’t as bad as they were. The really bad ones finally realized there isn’t anyone to really help them like before and they can’t return their 5 year old cr-p for new anymore.
They are still not back in office and I believe it won’t be a full week when they do decide to go back. I had seen it was to be a hybrid 3in / 2out.
And come on people. Let’s not be mean to MT! He’s clearly having a tough time of it. Picking paint colors is tuff stuff.
low pressure? did you mean to say work from home, or did corporate finally have to go back to the office?
Disrespecting the hardworking BBBY employees? What I see more of on here is people saying very mean things about corporate and management. I have read here people calling them.stupid, lazy, pea brain..clueless and Ive seen racist comments directed towards MT and the outsourced call center. And that is not considered disrespectful?
No..our customers are no worse then anywhere else. Have you worked in other retail? It is all basically the same. It is worse in higher end stores as the customers are more "needy" (yes I did work in high end retail..in college) the same things happen all over retail. As far as someone saying someone is disrespecting workers or a corporate goon or being "woke" those things are laughable. Some of us have varied experience and it gets annoying to read things that some people think BBBY has problems no one else does. I understand employees frustrations but if you are that frustrated at the customers .then go elsewhere and you will see that there will be some customers like that everywhere And if anyone wonders why I am working at BBBY..and not a higher end store it is because I want something low pressure and close to my home while my kids are young and where I live now high end retailers are at least 35 miles away.
do you even work for BBB? yeah, customers are hostile no matter who you work for, but our decades of allowing garbage returns and not being allowed to say no, even when someone is returning something from target or walmart but ‘swears’ they bought it from us, have cultivated especially demanding and mean customers. pile on to that the fact that the price of an item can swing 50 dollars from day to day….or that a D status item that looks exactly like the A item replacing it but is 80% less, etc etc……yeah, we have especially awful customers
If all the other employees are offering more then stop complaining and GO THERE.As far as the hostile customers..have you not worked anywhere else? I swear most of this board is 19 year olds on their first job
“Have you not read that EVERYWHERE is looking for help..like everywhere..so this one you cant blame on BBBY“
Yes and BBBY is doing nothing to entice potential hires to come onboard. All the other retailers are offering a lot more and are usually only a few minutes up the road. BBBY does nothing to try and keep talent. We lost one of our best associates because Home Depot gave better pay and bbby did nothing to try and match it.
i know they don't care, but my store could definitely use some new employees....the first hour of every day is either the key at service as coverage for the entire store, or a cashier and just the key; and on days like today when our one fulfillment person calls off, there's no one to pull shipouts until the closing key comes in
it's tough everywhere, but our uncompetitive wages, hostile and argumentative customers, and never ending price changes and projects certainly don't attract a ton of people, or keep them long

It makes sense given how slow it is going to be from January through the Spring like how it is every year and that you can get away with a minimal crew.
