I too was in the Charlotte Office. My story sounds similar. This institution has wronged many.
Today is 6/15/22. I was terminated for vaccine non compliance. I was located in Charlotte. My RE was denied as well as a medical accommodation request with multiple MD proof due to a disability that developed earlier this year. Want to know if others are out there who have been wronged as I have and are looking to band together to fight this injustice.
How do we get together to address this unjust firing as a group. There is strength in numbers
TIAA is actually asking “clarifying questions” about individuals religious beliefs. This a an EEOC violation. Let the lawsuits commence!
15 years with this company and I am being “exited”, they don’t even have the dignity to call it what it is FIRED!
I spent the last two years working remotely and was told by the Market President that based on my outstanding performance I would never need to return to the office. In addition, the company currently has no scheduled return date for remote workers. Yet somehow I am a danger to my coworkers?
I Filed for a religious exemption and the HR rep that called to interview me, got my name and the state I live in wrong. (Obviously she was very invested in my situation!). It was declined, by email of course. Absolutely pathetic.
Another religious denial! Everything said already is true. It seems that there are enough people vaccinated that they should stand up for us.
To the person whose "religious accommodation" got denied. I'm surprised you even got a response, as I know several people who are still waiting on so much as a response and it's been well over 30 days.
My guess is they're also happy they didn't have to bless you with the awesome gift of 2500 rewards points as well (sarcasm).
The ridiculousness of it all, other human beings getting to sit around a table with the power to decide whether a person's spiritual beliefs are sincere or not. I have no idea how they sleep at night or look at themselves in the mirror each morning knowing that they are forcing people to choose between injecting a foreign substance into their bodies or keep a roof over their families heads & put food on the table.
So many other companies have reversed their mandate decisions or never even had one in the first place. But for some strange reason they seem to get off on trying to be different.
They may have won their battle, but they'll never win the war. When it's all said and done they will all have to answer to God for this wickedness that they are casting upon their employees.

Yep, shady business run amock. They were slick enough to send out the decision announcement email late in the day on 11/15.......only one day before the Pulse survey closed on 11/16 (banking on the fact that they knew the majority of the company had already taken the survey within the first few days of it being available). And while yes it always does say at the end of the survey that you can come back anytime before it closes and change your answers, they know dang good and well 90% of people forget about that option.
Guarantee a lot of people would have TANKED their precious ratings had they announced before the survey.
All a bunch of smoke and mirrors. Absolutely pathetic.
I agree this was the worst, so much shadyness around all this. They knew they were full on going with this from the beginning but didn't want to come out and say it. So many little things showed up in that call. No anonymous questions can't see others, what if we are injured due to it, oh don't worry we give you healthcare. All a crock, notice how not once they asked in a survey how we felt about a decision like that, so much for respecting your greatest assets. Glad I'm seeing the true integrity of this fake company.
It gets better! If you are “exited” because of not getting vaccinated, the. They ding your U5 with an involuntary separation for not adhering to company policies. So now you will not only be jobless, but will have a black mark on your U5. Check out the FAQ that was sent out. It is buried in there!!!
I hope they allow us to take our variable comp and leave before March 1. This is the last straw for me. My peers and I (and much of the company) have taken on ridiculous workloads, cleaned up the -show that was VSP…..but this I cannot accept. “Exiting” - please…..call it what it is: firing without severance. Humiliated to have been loyal to this company for so long only to part ways in this manner. Go ahead - send out another survey to see how we’re feeling. Or schedule another all hands call with anonymous questions disabled-woops…..I see that it’s already on my calendar.

Yes, we will be "exited". So all these years of being worthy enough to represent them on behalf of their clients yet overnight transformed into being deemed completely useless for not taking a vaccine. Trusted enough to contribute to their workforce but not trusted the same to govern our own bodies.
Imagine facing the loss of your livelihood, keeping a roof over you and your family's heads, putting food on the table for your kids. And not for any personnel issues like performance, attendance, or even heavy issues such as unethical behavior like embezzlement or se-ual harassment but simply because of a PERSONAL decision.
Then even for those who submit medical or religious exemption requests it will still be up to them to decide whether they deem it valid.
Good luck with the backfilling. There are so many departments already shortstaffed and with employees who were already extremely overwhelmed and overworked. People's mental health is already detrimentally fragile and this is just yet another stressor. I could not even concentrate once this announcement came out. Neither could anyone else. Everyone started immediately getting texts. Productivity plummeted.
All those conference calls, acting as though they cared about their employees' concerns. Nothing but a facade and a charade.........

They can kiss the innards of my hindparts. Never thought I'd see the day where such a longstanding respected organization would so happily bow down to medical tyranny. People are dying of blood clots, strokes, heart inflammation, total body paralysis. But no one wants to talk about that. Will they pay for any of my medical bills if such? It's absolutely DISGUSTING what they announced today.
And people want to antagonize others by claiming "No one's 'forcing' you to do anything, you have the choice to leave".
Imagine being highly educated, highly skilled, glowing EXECELLENT (not just "Achieves") performance reviews, top quality work......all of this for YEARS, then suddenly being treated like a pariah and told you will be "exited" all because of a PERSONAL MEDICAL AND/OR RELIGIOUS DECISION. But yet they "value" their employees right?
I am thoroughly disappointed in TIAA, from Thasunda, to Doug, to Sean, to Andy and any and every other leader that showed us today that their employees DO NOT MATTER!!!!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT US!!!!! A mandate is NOT a law!!!! They could have allowed testing alternatives but I guess they care only about their bottom line.
TODAY I LOST ALL RESPECT FOR TIAA.
