Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

Mandatory Thanksgiving Shift?

I work in Logisitics at a large FLS store and we were all just told we are getting 13, consecutive trucks the week before and leading up to Thanksgiving, in order to rush XMAS product into stores before DAT.

They then told us that meant we have to work the Day of thanksgiving, and if we had plans to travel, that we must cancel them.

Now I am not naïve enough to believe nordstrom ACTUALLY cares about employees (COVID confirmed that), but since they pretend to value our time, even in store closing announcements, can they even be allowed to do this?

I was told that I could go back to the salesfloor if I didn’t like the decision.

Well, business is business as they say. Lot’s of other places to work out there if you have not decided to tie yourselves to Nordstrom. They can not only do it they do the same behaviors all the time. Perhaps it’s time to look elsewhere or accept the facts. Good luck.

Well, they did give you a choice. You'll get double time most likely for working the holiday, maybe even a free day off too? It worked out that way for me once.
