I'm asking about those of us who were laid off, not fired? I've been applying but I never got any responses. I can't see a reason for it - considering my qualifications and experience - other than that I've been blacklisted when I was laid off. It'd be nice to know for sure, though, so any info would be great.

Is a rehire grandfathered back in to the company. I know they used to ask employe thanking about applying for a job.
you people blaming HR for corporate policies are mo--ns. HR follows the mandate laid down by the ELT. Blame the C suite for stupid policies. HR just has to execute whatever the ELT puts out there.
There's no "blacklist" If you've taken a severance package, typically corporations will make you pay it back before you are able to be rehired.

There is a very good chance you were black listed or whatever it is called. The HR department does indeed have some vicious employees who have 'people they do not want' but fortunately some of them have been canned too. Leave Halliburton and thank your stars you no longer work there.
You can definitely be hired back. I’ve seen guys hired back after their incompetence led to destroying expensive equipment twice, and they took him back. If you have common sense and work hard they may not want you back. Typically, when things slow down they will sc--w those ppl over, and it picks up they cry about no one wanting to work.
You definitely can be rehired. But, I know for a fact that HR keeps a list on who they would rehire or not. I was offered a job but then was told to wait until HR could verify me as being an eligible rehire.
Most companies won't hire you back if you've taken a severance package. If you have taken a package, expect to repay it before you are hired.
And for the mo--ns bashing HR? Corporate sets the policies, HR just has to enforce the foolishness. Do you really think HR has anything to do with hiring and firing? Again, they just carry out corporate wishes.

They change management like socks, so nobody knows you or if you were a good employee or not. More importantly to understand- they dont care. You are better off to find a new job and stability.
I resigned years ago and was hired into a different position about five years later. I knew other people who were returning employees as well. It can be done but I wouldn't count on it.

If you got laid off in the first round or so and actually have experience (aside from facility closure) then there was a performance reason and most likely you won’t be hired back.
Yes. It saves time and money to hire back previous staff that were terminated due to reductions in staffing levels across the board (e.g. industry down turns).

Don't expect a straight answer, (or ANY) answer from Halliburton, especially since HR is in control.
In the olden days, you could ask someone in management (District, or Asst. District Manager} and they would give you the truth, but today, since HR runs the show, Halliburton would be loathe to hire back someone with experience, since a former employee has been exposed to all the lies and trickery that makes Halliburton such a "great" place to work.
The ladies in International personnel when that department was in Duncan, used to know who was hiring, and once I was laid off for a grand total of 10 hours, but of course, that was back when there were probably LESS than a couple of dozen field personnel in the whole Intensifier (HT-1000/HT-3000) pool.
