RH is acquiring too, albeit at a slower rate, but already starting to favor the Big Bleu model for "growth".

A Toronto-based consulting company is joining Raleigh-based Red Hat, becoming the second acquisition for the open source firm since its $34 billion buyout by IBM (NYSE: IBM) in 2019.
Phlyt, a firm providing expertise and products intended to help organizations adopt cloud-native technologies, is joining the Red Hat umbrella, the firm announced Monday. Financial details were not disclosed.
In a blog post, Red Hat said the addition of Phlyt, led by CEO Luke Shannon, would help to scale Red Hat Consulting’s “efforts to help customers who want to bring modern technologies to enterprise environments.”
“As the IT landscape continues to grow in complexity and scale, cloud-native skills play a critical role in helping organizations modernize their IT infrastructure and development tools,” the firm stated.

According to data from 451 Research, part of S&P Global Market Intelligence, 88 percent of organizations reported deficits in cloud expertise.
Phlyt is the second acquisition of the year for Red Hat after StackRox. Prior to the buy of the container management software firm, Red Hat hadn’t acquired a company since the IBM deal.
Before the IBM deal, Red Hat was a frequent acquirer, buying firms such as CoreOS, Permabit, Codenvy and 3scale. In 2015, Red Hat bought out Durham-based Ansible, a move that expanded its Triangle footprint to the Bull City.
As for Phlyt, few details about the transaction were available. The company’s social media presence vanished after the deal announcement, as did its website.
