Thread regarding Pembina Pipeline Corp layoffs

Remember when.....

They made us work on Remembrance day? Only to begrudgingly change the policy and act all progressive while doing everyone a favor? That says everything you need to know about how repugnant Pembina is. What a distasteful and offensive practice that was.

Nothing I have seen posted here about the relationship between Manulife and Pembina is unsubstantiated. Pembina has a terrible reputation with ML. The companies rates did increase due to several factors. The post below about the number of staff taking short and long term disability leaves is true. I know for a fact that Manulife case workers have a frosty relationship with Pembina. I mean, if you going to treat your employees like they are all disposable, you will most certainly treat the peasants who are paid to look after them the same way. Pembina doesn't care about our health.

I have learned that when Pembina tells us anything that relates to our health, wellness, benefits, compensation.... always assume the opposite is true. It's like a parent talking to a two-year-old. They are easily the Kenney/UCP of our industry. There was a post here that said Pembina's risk profile with Manulife had increased due to the number of people taking short and long term leaves, and the companies premiums skyrocketed. Unsubstantiated of course, but if true serves them right... unfortunately, the only people who suffer are the worker bees. MD and his b-m sniffers need to show some savings.

I was shocked during my first year as an employee to learn that we were working on Nov. 11! I have several vets in my family, and they were all upset that I didn't have the day off. That first year, I grabbed my coat and walked over to the Cenotaph on 4th St. alone for the ceremony. I also left work two hours early so I could catch the tail end of my families brunch. Every year, that day was taken as vacation up until they changed things and rightfully gave us the day off. Tremendous disrespect towards our Vets and Military so they could lazily manipulate the work schedule to give us mandatory time off over Christmas. Another regressive item to add to that list here. Appalling company to work for.

Also remember when we had good health insurance, and didn't have to worry about paying to provide for our family? Also disgusted thats its being spun as a change for our benefit that was asked for.
