Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

People are wasting time here

I understand all those who are waiting for their store to close, because it is hard to expect that something better will happen here. Most of my colleagues are depressed and have no enthusiasm for work. However, isn't waiting for the store to close a huge waste of time? I realized that I was just feeling sorry for myself and that if I had left even earlier, by now I might have been able to find another job somewhere else.

i got promoted to a newer store after their rec manager got keys, it was about 6 years ago right before the first round of layoffs (which included my previous rec manager at my old store); i'm not holding my breath for more severance since i don't have keys and i'm hourly, but for now everyone leaves me alone and let's me do my work, so i stay for now

yeah, i'm hourly, basically still have my job because they would have literally nobody to do it if i wasn't here

I seriously doubt there will be another "severance" at this point. I got out when they liquidated the Ops ASM position and it was the best move I ever made.

Full time receiving manager? Those salaried positions were cut years ago. Are you just an hourly receiving lead?

i don't WANT the company to go under, but everything they do is so half assed and wrong, there is zero chance anything turns around....so at this point, after 15 years, all i can do is hope i get severance when my full time receiving manager position is cut, or my store closes

It may seem like everyone is waiting for their store to close. Some of us even say that. But in reality a lot of us have been with the company a very long time and it’s more like hoping that someone will wake up and let us put it back together again. I know that’s a pipe dream but I remember when I was proud to work here. Now I’m embarrassed if a friend or family goes in the store. A lot of us are just hoping…even though it’s not going to happen.
