Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

They have no idea what they're doing

The store managers and DMs literally do not know enough to make sales goals and targets. They just choose arbitrary numbers that sound good and scream and yell to push towards a goal.
E.G. conversion. My DM at the time kept pushing for 50% conversion. We never came close at at the time that would have been a 16% increase from 42%. Not a realistic number.
we managed to increase to 48% 12.5% increase. thats huge! bigger increase % then any other store he had. well why werent we at 50. 48 was unacceptable.
from a consistent 40-42 to a consistent 48 is a huge increase but because the DM didn’t understand conversion or 8th grade algebra he was blind to what was going on. and neither did any of his SMs.

50% is not unattainable, I’m a SM and if we could keep the FE from getting one cart every time they have a go back we would be at 50%. Employees don’t get it and don’t care… it’s just a job, no ambition, no pride in work… nuthin… very sad.. everyone is content being mediocre..

Why do people repost other posts? Have you no thoughts of your own?

Everytime you do a key turn, grab returns, put away carts, anything that goes through either door counts on the scan system. You basically need to make everyone who is employed there to stay away from the doors unless there is a fire... lol. you will be amazed how much it will affect the numbers.

My DM had a region goal of 50%. In his mind that meant every store had to be at 50%. This guy had stores with conversion ranging from 12% to 60+ %. He didn’t understand the metrics and what they meant, how to process, analyze, and synthesize the data to make informed decisions. For his region to meet 50% was only an increase of a little over 3% per store. Not “get everyone to 50!”. But what do I know? Right.

Always wondered how much the count is affected by associates moving in and out. We dumped cart corrals and so were constantly in and out of the front doors. Lunch breaks and curbside runs as well. It’s gotta add up.
