Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Houston Reservoir Engineering Positions

Exxon has been promoting Reservoir Engineering positions in Houston on LinkedIn for experienced hires, and I've had a recruiter reach out to me regarding one of them.

Just curious if anyone had any insight into these positions, I didn't think this was the type of role Exxon typically hired outside for. Given the horror stories about Exxon culture, and what's gone down with the mistreatment of the workforce the last little while, I wouldn't want to touch the jobs with a 10 foot pole, unless I was desperate for employment, which while I'm not, some other people might be.

If you’ve taken PIL and still apply (just for fun), will XOM ask you to pay back SPOSA? Since you’ve promised not to apply?

Yea, I laughed when I saw this pop up. I thought about applying just as a joke (laid off for “fit”, not performance).

I would not join Exxonmobil knowing what I know today. You are better off looking elsewhere for a smaller company, who values employees, has a good culture, and has a fair method of ranking employees. Exxonmobil does not have any of these and they are not making any changes to fix these problems.
