Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

xerox has nothing that I need …Period

I need nothing from this place. They have used all the employees like tools, and lied to us repeatedly.

People keep giving this company and the people that run it the benefit of the doubt. When they truly don’t know how this company works or what they are capable of. It amazes me.
They have Treated us as Fools. Unable to do anything remotely important, or significant. Xerox has become a laughing stock with ideas like this.
We are always the cause of the issue. Never the solution. We are nothing but trouble. Just the cause of the issue.
Well take some of us out of the equation now and look around. When your sitting there asking what just happened ? Maybe you should think and ponder a bit. Who’s the cause of all this stuff ? Well…board of directors and management?
4 words occur to me ….
Look in the Mirror. 🪞

I do not think you lose your pension if you leave before age 55 and 30yrs. I am in that category at under age 55 but have 33yrs and my pension is my biggest concern.
If I go in and calculate leaving at any age before 55, I still get a 100% lump sum payout. What you lose by not staying until 55 if you have 30yrs is the hidden money that is in there. Everyone I know that has retired that met the 55/30 said they got about $100K more than what it said when they calculated their payout on the benefits page.
Xerox is currently 80% funded for their pension so you can still get 100% lump payout but if that goes below 80%, it automatically drops to 50% lump sum and the rest in an annuity. It gets recalculated in the 1st quarter each year.

Re: Some of the doom and gloomers on here act like Xerox is physically holding a g-n to your head to stay.

For a shrinking number of people, Xerox doing exactly this. People who have been with the company long enough to have money in the pension plan, but do not yet meet vesting requirement (age 55, and maybe some number of years of service), face losing their accrued pension benefit if they leave the company.

I'm no longer in this group, but if I were, this could be a significant barrier to just quitting.

For those not in this group, but who are unhappy with their current job, I agree - just move on.

But in any case, don't assume that everyone's situation is the same as yours.

Instead of spewing this drama, you should simply just quit. Wow, what a thought. Some
of the doom and gloomers on here act like Xerox is physically holding a g-n to your head to stay. Don’t believe in the company? Then quit. Don’t like your manager? Then quit. Hate the position YOU chose? Then quit. Instead of coming here solely to complain and offer nothing of value…then quit.
