Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

What are you most dissatisfied with here?

I don't know if I am more dissatisfied with pay or the atmosphere that is becoming more and more toxic. What is most worrying is that no issue that employees generally complain about is ever fixed here, and issues are piling up very quickly.

There is really hiring restrictions not hiring freeze.

If person in usa leaves company, manager has to decide whether position can be created in Bangalore.

If position not back filled in some months time position will expire and will not be allowed to create. Which means current team able to manage without backfill and position no longer required.

Hiring in USA is very much scrutinized nowadays.

Technicians doing engineering work, engineers doing technician work, managers doing nothing but meetings. Equipment engineers who cannot operate the equipment. All the caring skilled workers have quit. Those who are left

  1. .lazy do nothings
  2. Family doesn't want to move
  3. Low confidence to find better job
  4. .in the 5% with a decent team.and mananger
  5. High level Overpaid doing menial work

I never heard of this hiring freeze...for what positions? They are doing sign on bonuses for technicians and going to career fairs

I'm dissatisfied with decisions and directives from senior management. Cost is WAY too strong of a factor, and I only see this getting worse now that GF is public.

My org specifically is afraid to challenge the top dog and his cronies, so we end up with inferior solutions primarily based on cost. There's also a freeze on US-based hires, and the HR people in Bangalore have done nothing but waste our time. So we're stuck with the same/decreasing number of people while the number of projects continues to increase. The only benefit there is it'll be super hard to outsource us 😂

Main issue is pay and most hyped IPO didn't have any benefit to employee, job security,workload, opportunity.

Tell me what normal employee get from IPO except cap etc which I didn't took anyway.

Fake smile of management. How many times you hear no layoff but you hear news like layoff or outsource happening every day irrespective of your performance.

Can you tell definitely your job is secure ?

When you get message in linked in or call from friends we have opening in our team.

No growth. Here promotions based on your managers getting promoted or leaving organization.

If your manager is some one staying with company for long time. Assume you will never get growth.

If you see someone getting promoted from individual to director purely because diversity or manager is leaving etc

Performance has nothing to do with career growth or layoff.

If your future not in your control will you stay or leave
