Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Accelerated decline

The future seems more than uncertain for both us and the Sabre. There’s not much optimism, is there? Perhaps it is best to start actively looking for new opportunities.

Why has Sabre lost several large PSS customers over the last several months to Amadeus? Is the decline picking up speed?

That post from last month about transatlantic travel returning in a week certainly didn't age well!

Travel certainly will return but for that to happen people need to wear proper n95 masks, get vaccinated and boosted, try to avoid helping corona to evolve new variants, and actually start buying travel. There is huge pent up demand and people are ready to travel, they just need corona to settle a bit more and having unvaxed corona parties is going to make things much worse if a truly dangerous variant evolves.

We should lead by example, but no, we are also just sabotaging ourselves by opening up the office for unmasked interactions and without requiring vaccinations.

This should not be political and the countries that get their lives back to normal soonest will be those that make it the least political and just get it done.

@2bfe+1dBMK9XL // You're right, they are wrong. Fear-mongering is a weakness in humanity and a powerful tool for control when the 'powerful' use it for their purposes. This too shall pass, and SABR is positioned to be a tech leader. Worst case, ALPHABET buys SABR. Debt gone.

no one is saying travel isnt going up silly.
but companies do win/lose in these games and its certainly obvious thats sabre keeps losing their market share.

There is plenty information on this website alone to help you decide if you should start looking. I see that one individual came to a conclusion - https://www.thelayoff.com/t/16WTTKyU.

The future is bright, the future is orange! You doom mongers need to get a life. This business is picking up and transatlantic travel returns next week. You think that people are going to stop traveling and that life is over? Wake up, smell the coffee, do some work and help put this business where it belongs

While I'm very sympathetic to those who are feeling despondent over the future, I don't find much value in making doom and gloom posts that don't explain why the author feels that way. Vague comments expressing some unspecified sense of malaise don't really add anything to the discussion.

Let me say, however, that even though you feel that things are looking bleak, there are things that you can do to improve your own situation. Brush up your skills, polish your resume and reach out to those who may be able to help you land your next job. Look out for yourself because you know Sabre is doing the same thing for itself.

There is life after Sabre.
