Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Theft

Lowes won't stop the thieves from coming in the stores. They have pictures of them they know who they are. The thieves know no one can stop them from walking out with whatever. Employees try to call management on the zebra and their icon turns red.. So let thieves take what they want , it all belongs to Lowes they get the write off for it but we get screwed on the bonuses

You try and block a shoplifter walking out with high dollar items, you’re canned instantly. You take an RTM’d plastic birdhouse out of the trash you are fired even quicker. Yeah, those awful employees. Give me a fkg break.

Lowes has always been more concerned with employee thefts than of the street thefts. After running off long time employees and replacing them with part timers , corporate is probably even more concerned with employee theft

The greatest theft at Lowes is the salaries and bonuses being paid to Marv, Small Hands, Billy Sears, and the rest of the Sears and JC Penny cast-offs.

They say to give superior customer service and follow him but how can you do that when you’re surrounded by customers and the phones ringing I SST is Calling and then your manager has a work list for you to do it’s impossible Oh yeah and don’t forget you will be held accountable if you don’t get leads details credit cards etc. etc.

Actually they don't write it off. Each year retailers estimate what they will lose in shrink (per store) this is a number they MAY not pay takes on. This is why all stores have a shrink goal. It's the estimated amount (based on an average) that location should lose. Shrink is an EXPENSE, and the IRS is interested in your taxable income (i.e profit) .

Lowes has a very different approach to shrink. Its focused on the operation end of shrink. This is why if someone loads up a tote and the cashier doesn't open it, it's operational not 'theft'. Regardless of the intent. Unlike other retailers who focus on the theft end and operations such as Target and Home Depot.

The external side of theft (those situations described here) are not going to be the largest percentage of a store total shortage number. It is frustrating as a person see's it over and over. The amount lost can be in the six figures for some people who do this for a living. In most cases by far internal theft is always the highest percentage of total shortage. Search any article (National Retailers Federation) on retail shrink and you will see the numbers. This is why most retailers have a balanced approach to combat shrink.

Then they come and ask why you just let them walk out!

We have several regulars. One set of guys load up a lumber cart with doors, windows, drywall or whatever else they need then just walk out....this happens several times a week. Lowe's doesn't care. Tool world guy loads up a shopping cart, walks right out of the garden center. A customer followed him the local pawn shop. I think plant thief lady took all the high end topiary trees this year.

They let them steal everything in site but can't afford to give us a decent raise.
