Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Is the grass greener on the other side

I actually like working in insurance but just getting tired of Allstate. Has anyone left Allstate and went to another company? If so is it better or worse? Also, if you would like maybe mention the new company? Asking for a friend (me, lol)

Unless you live in Kentucky. Their grass is blue.

At the end of the day, if you're only working for money to survive, you'll never be totally satisfied, and all of your effort will make your company richer while you can barely pay your bills.

Work culture is huge for me.
Allstate is more micro management focused than the competitor I went to.

We have autonomy and can make decisions such as when to take our breaks, get an hour lunch, etc.

Im leaving to go to a new company after 10 years with Esurance/Allstate. Im sure the grass may not be greener but will be different grass and I can't imagine another company being this dysfunctional.

I went from Allstate as an underwriter to progressive in inbound sales.
I love it.

2 other Allstate people came over before me and recommended it. They’re both still here also.

That gain share is okay well worth it, and you’re appreciated here.
Allstate just cracks a whip and treats you like a slave while paying you pennies

Allstate and Statefarm are certainly the worst. Other carriers are much more aware of both employee and customer needs vs pleasing stockholders.

Progressive ….3-5 auto inspects a day plus end of the year gains are bonuses. On the inside it’s a little stressful as a mobility adjuster though but nothing like the current workload here at Allstate. I’m
Glad I made the change .

Yes it can be much greener. Look for a small/medium size insurance company that does preferred lines. Personally I would avoid Allstate, Farmers, State Farm, GEICO, Progressive, USAA, and the usual names. Try to find a company like PEMCO, Farm Bureau, Amica, Erie, and ect. Once you find like 5-10 in your state just keep an eye out weekly on their job boards. Also, spend the time to make yourself look good, be well thought out, apply for the right roles, make connections in those companies, and negotiate your salary. Execute well and it is lush green…rush it and you can make a mistake. Start making friends with middle management and keep up with them if they leave.
