Summary of things obswrved as an experienced hire in the company for >1 year. Let’s try to keep it real and civil -
- Early career Engineers in USA - EIO program, full exposure to networks in the company, multiple experiences. Competitive salary.
Early career in BTC - No training, no EIO, no exposure, no network. Dumped with ‘complex’ work which can be done in sleep as well. Below average salary. And yet we clean mess left by sudden moves and resignations and low quality engineering over decades. Then get blamed for quality of work as US counterparts intentionally don’t help. No training and then blaming, its just set up to fail, unless the company’s leadership uses their head and treats everyone equally.
We cannot succeed as a company if all we do is fight among ourselves.
- Leaders - Well that seems like a problem across the board globally. This company creates monsters in the name of managers. Unprofessional, unskilled, unqualified, inhuman. Its a systematic issue because of the PDS system that requires boot licking your higher ups and neglecting those who report to you. I think we can all agree on this one.
- Lies and deception - In our interviews we are told about global exposure and expat assignments. The reality is 1-2% of the population will even be considered, then why lie? They say salary will improve, and then give 2% raises, its our fault that we join for the brand, because once again these managers lie to is during interviews and campus presentations. Lying without conscience is We are exxonmobil culture, no wonder the company is dying a slow death with frustrated employees.
- The pay is just too low, no bonus, no insurance for family, no festive bonus - These are nirms in all Indian companies, because we are a culture that respects people, unlike American cumture that respects only self and money, and live a meaningless life thinking they are the best in the world. Of course there are exceptions in America, but look at your vaccine mess.
Of course, I expect comments here bashing my nationality, but its just too wrong to assume that all Indians are like the ones you see in the US offices. Those are the ones that couldn’t compete in India and went abroad and got hired by EM. Today’s India is very different and globally competitive, IF the right salary is paid.
This company is slow torture and we were tricked to join. And we will leave because things will not change. I also sympathise with US colleagues, don’t know how you put up with the BS for 20 years 30 years.
