Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Where two are fighting, the third wins

Will someone explain to me why there is so much animosity towards Husky people? I worked at another company where there was a lot of intolerance towards employees who came after the merger, but here it is on a higher level. While employees are arguing with each other, those at the top are having a great time.

I think that it’s because (and bare with me not saying it’s my view point) the feeling is Cenovus bought Husky (which is true) so normally the staff at the acquired company are the ones that lose their jobs. AKA CNRL. If CNRL buys your company you know you’re done for and no one at CNRL ever loses their job because of a purchase. They never bring mgmt on from outside of CNRL as they want to assimilate the purchased company and its staff to think and act the CNRL way. Kind of like the Borg.

I think Cenovus staff feel “ripped off” that CVE brought over all the Husky mgmt and all the Husky staff and then laid off both CVE and Husky staff. No one thought Cenovus staff would get laid off because they were the one buying Husky.

When that came to be a pipe dream staff from CVE were pi---d off. Fair or not who knows but that’s pretty much it, they felt betrayed by Alex and the CLT and thus the anger towards the leadership and the Husky staff.

Alex actually said in a town hall that there would not be anymore layoffs so the staff felt lied too especially since he was working on this deal while he was saying this.

I have it on good authority that the CLT will be accountable for this mess once the current oil rally ends.
