Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

I think they will have a big problem during the holidays

Macy's could claim that they are planning to hire a million new employees for the holidays, but the question is how many people will really look for a job here. I might be wrong, but I think this year, more than ever, there will be a lack of people to work during the holidays??? The reputation is terrible and it's costing us. I would like everything to be great, but I have an ugly feeling that the company will be in big trouble during this year's holiday season.

Just got word of a Manager leaving for Target in one of the stores. Well liked person who just came back recently so it has to be bad to leave a stable position where the store needs you and move on. Wishing her the best and more $$$ I’m sure.

Not enough associates and support help and drowning in workload. Few people seeking jobs here, why would they for minimum wage when many competitors paying more. The most productive people doing the most were the first ones brought back from furlough and 18 mos later they are all burned out with the holidays still coming. This season is going to be a nightmare.

In Central Jersey no one is even coming for jobs. Those who do come only want to work when they want to work, not when we need them. The colleagues that we do have are burning out before the season even begins. Without fast changes , it’s going to be a long season.
My store wants more with less . If you tell the truth your negative. They are willing to lose more staff , then changing to help the stores.
Put the people that do nothing to work, and support those who do work .

Until Macy's pays competitive wages and salaries they will not get enough workers. We are in Southern California and our competitors are paying $2 to $4 per hour more than Macy's.

If they can’t get enough workers, why do they still extend the store hours so much - sometimes opening at 9 and staying open until 10 or 11. A sales associate can be scheduled to work until 10 or 11 pm and then be scheduled to open the next day at 8 or 9 am. This is not easy to do and customers don’t shop that early or late anyway.
