Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Should I leave?

Have an offer on the table to leave for a place that will match base salary and give a 30% bonus. Offer is from a non-O&G company that is also not tech-related. It’s also two rungs up on the career ladder.

I’ve never had a bonus at EM and my last two rankings were Very Good and Very Good. Any idea when we’ll hear about raises?

I may have one promotion left in my career (should be fairly automatic I’m told).

Should I stay or should I go now?

How in the world do you get dressed in the morning? Should I wear black socks or white socks? Which shirt should I wear? What shoes? What route should I drive to work? All these decisions, I don’t know what to do! Maybe I’ll ask people I don’t know.

You’re an id--t and need to leave this great company of decision makers.

If you go then you will wonder if you should have stayed. If you stay then you will wonder if you should have left. Based on this reasoning, it’s clear that you should consider staying unless you really want to go. Good luck!

Do you see these rude and sarcastic posts on your thread OP? These are your fellow coworkers and the type of people left in this dog eat dog of a company . That should be enough motivation to leave OP.

This kind of post is very encouraging.
It indicates the insecure little poof can't make a decision on his own.
Please stay, little lamb.
You won't survive in the real world.

You will get an 20% raise in January to make up for no raise last year, no 401k match, inflation, annual raise, and a little extra to stem the exodus. If you get a 30% bonus, take it. Stay at Exxon and you eventually will get PIP’d, then no raise and likely laid off.

Really depends on YOS and age.
Reaching 55 and over 15 years pays off big time.
if you are >45, take new job.
If you are over, I'd hang in there.

Realize that your Very Good rating has a shelf life, similar to radioactive decay. Per quantum theory, it is impossible to predict when your particular rating will decay because it's a random process, however, the decay can be much more rapid if your manager becomes unstable.

Pretty much answered yourself. If Exxon work is meaningful to you, then stay. Otherwise another venture is ideal. Since you mention salary. It is obviously the other company
