Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Has anyone gotten full time WFH approved?

I’m in CTC and have always gotten great ratings. I can do my job just fine remote, and I want to be able to live closer to family. Has anyone actually pushed back against this hybrid bu-----t and requested full time remote? What was your experience?

OP, thank you for reiterating that the work you are doing can and will be performed remotely permanently in India or Manila for a fraction of the cost we are spending on you.

No, I have not gotten any full time WFH approved. But on the other hand, I have gotten all the WTF time I want approved.

Yes. Many are on permanent flex, only required to come in once a month for "team" meeting.

Full-time WFH will happen for a few limited cases, mostly yes-persons, almost all IT or Finance positions. As stated elsewhere, if your job really doesn't require you to be in the office at least partly, we can outsource your job to the other side of the planet at a fraction of your salary.

There aren't any spaces for all the IT staff so many of them will remain remote. Just no room at the inn. The vast majority will return 3 days on-site and 2 remote. Houston specifically.

Yes, OP. In 2016 I got approval for full-time Work From Home, albeit without pay. I got laid off.

I know people in California working from home full time before the pandemic. They had to show their face at the Bako office from to time but lived at the beach. Mgmt discretion.

My group unfotunnltely were one that was selected to move to Houston in 2013. I for one with our digital capabilities stressed the need for remote work in the event of earthquakes and or hurricanes as exemplified by recent activities and past events. Safety safety safety was was I kept hearing. Unfortunately I was put through he-l and my family when requests for remote work went unheard. I made it through 4 years of he-l which I would not wish on anyone. Unlike most of you I retired after 36 years. I am now back in Northern California after CVX moved me back home thank goodness. You can guess all the initials that caused that complete mess. Glad y’all got out of HOU160 the stinky building. By the way if you can stand 36 years of fun then stay with the Company.

It is almost entirely up to your boss. If he allows it, you are golden. If not, it do3snt matter what anyone else is doing.

Be careful what you wish for. If your job can be done full time remote, then there’s no reason to keep it in the US. Plenty of IT jobs have gone overseas and they are always looking for more. If you want to live closer to family, quit and get a job that’s closer to your family.

I've heard of some IT staff going fully remote, the only condition is they need to stay in they hometown, so sorry you cannot go to beach house and work form there..
