Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Is It Just Me?

Is it just me, or do 20% of Xerox employees do 80% of the work? I'm just asking because in my department, we have guys who disappear/leave early, etc. while the rest of us pick up the slack. One of my coworkers is notorious for saying, "Go ask Joe (not my real name)" and then goes back to watching YouTube videos. It doesn't help that my manager doesn't care. As long as the work gets done, he isn't concerned who's doing it.

I don't know where you work, but where I am, and what I do, there are so few people left to do the work that if someone dropped the ball there would be such a ripple effect that the business would collapse. We are so under staffed and over worked its ridiculous!

Is it just me … or has it been like this at xerox for at least 40 years? Its not just me. It has been this way for 40+ years. The busiest people get the work because they will find a way to get it done. Period. Is it right? No! But it’s the culture.

Spent 30 plus years at the X..that was the reality in every department I ever worked in..Management just ignored it and relied on the 20% to take care of business.

It's unfortunately always been that way at this company. Until the initial purges started in 2018 there were scores of VP offices in Webster where B-band employees sat and did very little. And there were always several members of your team who managed to do nothing but "busy work" 100% of the time.

It's not as common now, but still happens.

It’s Not just You. Your Not imagining things. If I hear the phrase. “ I’m kinda busy “ again I could just scream. Some of these guys are masters at making the numbers look better than they really are. No surprise here. Especially the Hospital Techs. They won’t lift a finger to take a call right Nextdoor. Been that way for a long time. Nothing ever changes.

The good old 20/80 rule ….in manufacturing 20% of the parts cause 80% of the problem…applies to workers also ..

Sounds like your coworker is the smartest one in the room. Why work hard to a next to dead company that has disdain for its employees ??
