Recently went to a leader retirement party and had an opportunity to see folks that I hadn’t seen since COVID started. Multiple levels of claim leadership, all miserable. They are between a rock and a wall, trying to keep up morale on their teams while trying to meet the ridiculous metrics forced on them. They are all exhausted, working crazy hours 7 days a week to keep up. One mentioned the direct call requirements: how those that measure actual quality interactions with our frustrated customers? The only leaders that were happy were on a design team: they have no direct reports and happily sit at their desks creating processes that further tax the frontline employees. This has to change, it’s getting worse by the day.

Maybe the person posting isn't in a position to retire.
To the individual that made this post…. If you feel it’s getting worse, why don’t you retire? We all have choices. Funny I was at a retirement event recently as well and didn’t get the same vibe. You sound bitter and need to leave. Bloop
Make as much working in retail or fast food as they offer here..
We’re chasing our tails in auto claims. Not enough adjusters to write the estimates , go into the field and do virtual . Some of The best talent was run off last year and trying to restaff their positions is proving difficult. Who wants to come back to this cluster ?
An earlier commenter wrote "Decisions are made from those on high, and they'll ask for feedback/thoughts....." Overall I agree with the reply, but as a former Allstate leader I offer this comment. When those on high - especially your immediate manager - stop asking for feedback/thoughts, it's time to leave. It signals that your leadership means nothing to that person on high. And that will make you miserable, trying to keep up morale and productivity on your team while you know that it is pointless to do so.
The design people have their own issues with what is going on.. Setting up to fail starts there..
Imagine having to work 7 hours a week just to be slightly behind. Well, you don't have to imagine, BECAUSE THAT'S ALLSTATE.
The powers that be don't care, though. In their minds, we're actually overstaffed and it's out fault if we cannot meet their unrealistic
I cannot wait until I get out of this hellhole. The amount I'm paid for the amount I work doesn't make any sense.
Yup, sounds about right. Lower than VP's, there's really not much that managers can do. Decisions are made from those on high, and they'll ask for feedback/thoughts, but really the decisions have been made already and won't be changed. Middle management are mostly salespeople, they "sell" the VP's decisions to their direct reports. They don't have much autonomy.
