Is the new Walmart hiring policy "we'll take anybody, literally anybody, no restrictions whatsoever?"

Walmart will ire just anyone. We were definitely working with some people that were probably on crack seriously very scary!!!! They hire them just to make the numbers, its very sad .
When I was a back room lead a few years ago, we had several people who couldn’t read very well or do basic math. One guy couldn’t tell time on a clock. Some of them didn’t know right from left. Unbelievable that grown adults have no idea how to do those basic things that you learn in grade school.
they hire anyone because they are DESPARATE!! Pay cr-p wages, treat people like cr-p and people leave so they have to keep hiring.
It’s retail.
Of course, Walmart will just about hire anyone. Firstly, this is retail. You don’t have to have a degree in rocket science to do the job. For that matter, Walmart doesn’t even require a high school diploma to work as a store associate. We have associates that can’t read, if you can believe it.
A lot of that is sad, I know, but it’s the truth.
But the bottom line is that Walmart does provide a place where people who have few job options can get employment and benefits. Walmart accepts the human factors that go with that population, too. Such as attendance issues, internal theft, lower reliability, less loyalty, and more.
This is the way things are.
Rule was that one could reapply after 12 months after being let go because of points. Seen it happen often
Apparently, they are. Rule of thumb use to be if you walked off the job -- or you were a no call -- no show, you were not eligible for rehire. Now, I know of several recent examples of people with this type of history being rehired. The job market is so strained right now, that they willing to turn a blind eye to this type of history -- and it will most likely come back to bit them. Just sayin.
I believe convicted felons deserve 2nd chances. People on parole needs to start somewhere. Honestly. Walmart is doing society a great service.
I remember when we used to hire anybody who could pass a dr-g test. When that wasn't possible, now we hire anybody who has a heartbeat. Now it has to be based on demographics and gender.
