hat are your experiences with looking for a new job, or do you think that people who worked through the pandemic are more likely to get new jobs than those who sat at home and collected free money, as someone said here? I don’t notice that we who worked at the worst times of the pandemic and risked our health are any more privileged when it comes to getting a new job.

We have brought back several people laid off in the summer of 2020, and we are paying them more than they were making before. Why would a store even try to get someone back for less? That's insulting.
Thank you both for your comments. After working for 50 years and having to collect unemployment for the first time because of the pandemic I feel I deserve it. It is OUR MONEY and that is the reason we pay into it in case we ever need it. I am tired of people shaming us for not going back to unsafe stores and conditions especially those of us with health problems and older. My store is rehiring ex employees at a salary they were paying 15 years ago not at their salary they had when laid off. Shame on Macy's for not valuing their employees at all.
I was money you paid in to with state taxes! After working for 45 years and never laid off,that’s what the so called free money is for!!! No one should be ashamed to use the resources that you are entitled to!
It wasn’t free money. That was OUR MONEY we paid in taxes from jobs WE have worked for years - decades. It was NOT free money. IT WAS OUR MONEY!!!!
