There was a time when you got furloughed and just played a waiting game to come back. The job meant something, the pay and status meant something. Now we know the game being played, namely workers being used in ponzi scheme to get work out of people then hang them to dry first chance to maximize profits. Trouble is,no one is playing the game any longer. The jig is up, the pattern exposed. People will leave and get other jobs, why would they want to come back only to be furloughed again in a year? So NS is stuck, people won't go to work for other places, let alone NS! NS is the brown jewel of class 1 railroading. They can (under) pay us to live our lives on their trains but they can't buy our loyalty!!
