Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Once upon a time, I used to love my job

Sadly, it's been years since I felt anything even close to that. People who have no idea how to run this company have managed to run it into the ground. The only reason I'm still here is that the pay I receive is still decent. That's it. I also don't give it my all anymore, I do what's expected of me and that's it. I missed the days when I cared enough to do more.

You may love a job, but the job will NEVER love you!

I got out, not by choice but rather a victim of the Allstate transformation. Was not a good time to be 5 years from retirement, not a good time to be the senior auto tech in the state. Miss all of my coworkers and friends but in hindsight it may have been a good thing. I was able to recover mentality and physically and have never felt better. Job opportunities are out there, other insurance carriers love the training and knowledge I am coming to the new job with. It is saving them $$ at the expense of the Allstate transformation. Life after Allstate is out there.

The big boys “didn’t anticipate” the fall out from their decisions. There are numerous political parallels with what is happening to this country and company. What else “didn’t you anticipate” boys ? Your employees feeling miserable over their day to day work given the pandemic and your cut throat mentality of job elimination and oversights ? Did you also “not anticipate” that no one wants to be treated like trash anymore working for Allstate so people are leaving ? Did you also “not anticipate” you can’t hire people fast enough to replace those that have left let alone those you RIF’d? Sounds like you need to take a sensitivity course on how to develop your emotional intelligence. Of course, after you complete all your diversity courses. This company is clueless.

Get out, I also used to love my job and left. I’m much happier at a competitor now.
