Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

UNREAL

Palo Alto Networks reported their numbers yesterday after the bell.

28% Growth in Q4
Cisco Security is 1%

Palo Alto Networks at 1.2B compared to Cisco Security of 805M.

When is Cisco going to get competent security leadership to run the global sales and engineering teams.

Plenty of top employees left Cisco to become millionaires at Arista.

Palo Alto early on (2015-2019) poached some of the most high performing managers and engineers from Cisco and in the past year have poached many high performing managers from Juniper (2019-2021).

In turn many engineers LR’d from Cisco in the past year landed at Juniper and Nokia.

So basically Palo Alto created an all-star team while the rest are playing musical chairs….

Strange that the #1 security company is not participating the White House cybersecurity meeting.

I know you love to blame SB but you have to admit the products also suck.

The PAN 1.2B number is all security cause they are only security company.

The 805M is the Cisco Security number.

The whole issue is there is leadership within GSSO that is clueless. The worldwide VP of security sales has never been a sales leader at any level and it shows. The worldwide VP of GSSO engineering is making wrong decisions after wrong decisions and it shows.

These two are in over their head.

Cisco cannot be a :
Routing leader
Switching Leader
Server Leader
SaaS applications leader
Remote conferencing Collaboration/leader
IoT leader.
It is second or third in each field and doing fine overall. Nothing spectacular but not bad. Be happy !

The $1.2B in sales at PAN is for everything (HW/SW for all product lines). At Cisco the $805M is just for security. Jump off a cliff if you don't like it here (chew on some razor blades and sip on bleach before doing so).

Cisco ruled security until 7-8yrs ago. Since then competition has caught up and even surpassed in several cases, along the rise of cloud computing/providers has caused the perception issue among customers on Security offering.

Although ISE, Duo and some extent firewalls sales, continue to hold the fort.

Contrary to marketing claims "#1 security company" the truth of the matter is Cisco is not seen as top security vendor by customers.

The results trajectory both in product and services over the years, are the reflection of this market sentiment.

Long term technical security sales rep here. I'm interviewing for a CSS job. This blog is creating some hesitation on my part. Other large primarily HW focused companies (IBM, EMC, HP, etc), haven't figured it out yet either. I think that Cisco would benefit with more focused attention attention on security. Does anyone at Cisco even care about security?
