Who or what is to blame for the miserable wages at BBBY?
Their greed?
Their incompetence?
Us who agree to them?

That’s a wonky answer when an associate can walk to another employer and achieve a greater hourly rate.
Oh, I know, they should just go and do that.
They are.
All the while , consultants are being consulted.
Studies are being studied.
If a $10 key holder is uncomfortable....
Can you operate a viable “ Omni always” model when your starting rate is 30-50% below comparable regional employers?
Remember, what’s looming.
150-200 CDS orders daily.
100+ 1 hour bopis and I would expect unprecedented SDD daily.
And this isn’t even addressing the RM, DM, SM losses.
Without question the company has been tragically slow to respond to the labor market.
Cost of living varies greatly depending on where you live. So does minimum wage. Large cities have minimum wages of 13-15 hourly. Expenses are much greater in those areas. Asking about a general wage is not a valid question. It also depends on the store.
Who is financially incentivized, at the store and district level, to keep labor costs low?
Should a key holder make $10 an hour?
I recall ten yrs ago my manager telling me if I moved up to management to ask for no less than 45k to start. Our cost of living here is low. My mind was blown, teachers don't start that high, and a freaking monkey could do this job. The wage now is a bit more in line with the actual work performed.
Complain complain complain..how about you go and get another job? Hint: try to be positive in an interview
You accepted the job offer, so the only person to blame for low pay is yourself for accepting it.
Hardside/soft side managers as well as ASM’s were all making salaries. This was back when they had a full time lead for each department to help them, and didn’t have bopus etc. Now supervisors with same role get paid 1/4 of what managers got paid.
For years we paid people way too much
To underperform. Standards were not held and expectations not set. Now we are in a slingshot effect. They are going from far right (too much) to far left (not enough) it is the usual reaction in retail. Pay should be based on work and unfortunately it has not been upheld. Now we are facing the issue of trying to give hard workers the pay they deserve and the sad reality is that we are going to lose good workers to get cheaper labor.
