Just saw the news that M's earnings went up last quarter and they seem to be doing much better now. I haven't shopped at M for a few years, so I decided to take a look at the website to see what things have changed. I used to not be able to find any clothing I could see myself wearing from M (I'm in my 20s). I'm glad to see the merchandise selection is much more fashionable now. Lots of new brands that M didn't sell before, and these are all contemporary and current styles of clothing that I could see myself wearing. I don't know how things are going inside the company, but I'm glad to see that M finally got the message to improve their merchandise selection. I always thought that was the main reason M wasn't doing well.

Poor selection, no sizes, messy, dirty stores , no customer service, lack of professionalism…….throwing something else at the wall ie toys to see if it sticks……that’s what Macy’s is training their customers to accept when shopping in their stores. If it works ….the brick and mortar stores will continue to look like dumps.
Stock has gone up which is good for my old 401K with Macy's, but a big part of this is consumer spending during this quarter. Glad to see the company did so well for the quarter but are there plans in place to keep it going? Dividend is a good thing, but again what cost will this be to the stores and the lack of people to run them. Merchandise selection is definitely key, you have to organize the stores better and keep presentation plus fitting rooms neat (I know this is a big ask!!) Customers want a good experience while shopping, the Toys R Us announcement I think is good as long as it's showcased properly and neatly.
Mission accomplished!!!!
It’s because Macy’s is displacing their customers from stores that have closed. Of course it will look good on paper because those customers will either go to another store in the market or shop online. The product is BEYOND revolutionary or innovative and Private Brands just copies what other designers are doing…unless you are looking for polyester than we got you covered! LOL!!
Hi Jeffy!
Instead of reinstating the dividend and buying back shares they should look at giving their colleagues more money first!
Jeff.. we get it.. its time to resign ..
