Just wondering if Toys R Us are going to lease a section part of the store just like finish line, sunglass hut, or Mac. Also are they going to hire there own people or is Macy's employees are going to be working inside the Shop?

Store within a store can be very good, if it's managed correctly. STORY was a failure for sure, customers just didn't embrace the idea, felt like an antique shop trying to be trendy and cool. Toys R Us however is an iconic brand so it should do well, as long as the presentation of the department is kept up. I like Backstage a lot and hopefully more will roll out. Some stores have Lens Crafters, which again is better in larger stores and saw it fail in smaller sites here in NJ. I feel that there should be more Starbucks in Macy's, even in "C" rated stores/malls. Just some ideas I'm throwing out there.

You know, this may not be a bad idea. Draw kids and families into the store and sell more children's clothes as well. Generates a predictable income stream. Maybe a model for the future. Can anyone see a Macy's full of vendor stores and some reserved slots for "pop up" limited time stores? Sort of like a portfolio of great brands? Some stores have several of these "store within a store" already. Also, some of these shops may have policies more amenable to some employees and they can work there. Same registers. Has anyone had any experience working in these "store within a store"? Do they have benefits?

Story was the worst idea I’ve ever seen, it was a rip off of Urban outfitters and an attempt to bring in millennial shoppers. Macy’s is heading in the right direction, what can I say I like stock it’s made a wealthy man.
