Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Employee Participation Survey

Are they really going to read it? Or will it be worded so that we can't tell them what we really think? Multiple choice answers with nothing bad?

If they allow us to tell them what we really think, corporate and management are going to get ripped apart.

Positive or negative answers on the EOS both show "engagement" which is all they are looking for. The absolute worst thing you can do in their eyes is not do the survey at all.

The survey questions are very carefully worded and it is meant to be a referendum on the store management team. Corporate does not care about any other criticisms that are presented. That’s why the ice cream, cupcakes, and other ‘treats’ are often provided in the training room when this happens, so hopefully the employee is in a positive frame of mind and will give positive answers so the store does not get an HR intervention list. Store level management employees cannot see who provides the answers to the questions.

The surveys in my opinion are rigged to shield corporate management from getting the brunt (if any) of the blame. The questions are crafted to hang your store management chain out to dry while corporate comes off smelling like roses. As for confidentiality, I too have my doubts. Each of us has a specific link and therefore it is possible we may not all be receiving exactly the same survey. Comments like "yea the specialists don't think we are doing a good job" etc makes me really think it is at least tailored towards your specific title. The fill in the blank comment at the end of the last couple were limited to such a low word/character count you couldn't even begin to unload on them let alone tell them what you really think. I do think they like to use the results to grade the stores. If only they would use it to grade corporate they would have to fire themselves. Wouldn't that be nice. Maybe in some alternate reality it could happen. :-)

Fact - A store scores low or has poor participation, the store receives visit from market goons. They ask associates the standard stupid questions for a few hours on the floor, go to the training room, tell the managers that scored low they suck and do better, If a store associate feels the need to mention management by name with market, well bye bye....your marked now. Then a plan is made to get better with cross-training, accountability, communication. Rinse and repeat year after year.

If they have low participation, that is what will get their attention. Filling out positive or negative does not make a difference, it is about the percentage of participation.

If I told these as-----s how I really feel, they would walk me out before I am done with the survey. I have more important stuff to do like my ap4me and Lowe's U.

of course the survey is NOT confidential. The y may not track what you said but they easily can if at anytime they want to. Years ago an ASM asked me why i have not taken my survey yet. I asked how he knew and he just said please take your survey. The scorers get lower every year and yet they act like we are a great company. Maybe we can work our way up to good someday but greatness is beyond us under the current publicly traded concept

They'll read it and get rid of people who answer truthfully.
