Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Good strategy

I'm actually very comfortable at Cisco, and it would take a lot to make me leave. A big reason why I don't leave is because I'd rather get LR'd and take that severance package on the way out. I always try to interview around this time of year and hope that I get LR'd while having an offer with equivalent or better pay lined up!

You can be conservative and woke.

You obviously have no idea of what “woke” means. Empathy for the under-privileged and marginalized isn’t woke.

“Not everyone at our company, which is hardly based out of SF Bay at this point, is progressive. Please put a sock in it and let's get on with the business of growing our revenue.”

You can be conservative and woke. Woke just means you empathize with the plight of underrepresented/marginalized citizens. Doesn’t take much. I do agree with the focus on revenue growth. This should not be an either or situation. Both can be done.

I used to love Cisco. I still love the work. It's too bad that nearly all of our company-wide meetings have devolved into progressive political lectures. Not everyone at our company, which is hardly based out of SF Bay at this point, is progressive. Please put a sock in it and let's get on with the business of growing our revenue. The task that the executive leadership team has failed at for nearly a decade.

"Believe it or not many people like their jobs at Cisco."

Those people are called bureaucrats and politicians.

I liked my job. I despised what was going on around me... I don't go to work to get into politics. In regards to waiting for a layoff I promise you that you will land in a better place on all fronts if you take control of your career vs. having someone determine it for you.

Believe it or not many people like their jobs at Cisco. They would just like Cisco to be more transparent with respect to layoffs.
